Caro Wilson Woven Herringbone Vide-Poche in Copper, Brass, or Sterling Silver
Weaving is a long tradition in most parts of the Philippines. Baskets, trays, & mats are found in all shapes & sizes in a variety of plant materials, such as rattan, bamboo, & water hyacinth.
There is a ubiquitous woven container we love -- the "bilao" -- it has inspired our first foray into trays, which we translate from plant material into copper, brass, or sterling sliver. Our usual finish is a high polish, which is then sealed to prevent tarnishing (water will erode it.)
Use our tray to empty out your pockets (the French would call this container a "vide-poche", meaning "empty pocket"). On a console by the front door, place your keys on it. In your bedroom or dressing room, place your wallet, watch, jewelry, or cellphone (the medium & large sizes can take an Iphone Max).
Copper has an antibacterial quality that makes it ideal, in these pandemic times, for personal items to rest upon.
Our standard sizes follow. Please inquire for custom sizes & for sterling silver.
