Sometimes, in the midst of a pandemic, a person just needs a little Christmas right now. Especially because, goodness knows, Christmas 2020 was such a sad, dim shadow of Christmases past. No togetherness — all social distancing.
It was after this terrible let-down of a Christmas season, in January of 2021, that we focused on designing something to get us all back in the mood. We decided on the essential Filipino symbol of Christmas, the Parol.
And so, now we have 18 Parols in our 2021 Holiday Collection — and 1 Wreath, of pinecones found in Baguio. All are made to order.
The Parol stands for hope. It hearlds the birth of a child who stands for the renewal of humanity & the salvation of the world. In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, now sadly going into a second year, we hope for the end of lockdowns, for salvation from this dreaded disease, and for the return of care-free reunions with friends & family.
Our parols are made of two of our favorite sustainable materials: bamboo (treated against insects) & abaca. The abaca is presented in three ways: twine woven onto the bamboo frame, sinamay (a gird), & gumon (aka Abaca Scrunch).
Each parol & wreath is hand-made, to your order. Please allow 6-8 weeks from deposit to delivery.
